Role
The Head of Social Enterprise will manage the Fortune Works service. Fortune Works has existed in various forms since 1960, and today is one of Scotland’s largest social enterprises for adults with learning disabilities. The service promotes choice, autonomy, and meaningful involvement in real economic activity and engagement in the local community.
Salary: £47,098 p.a.
Hours: 35 per week
Location: Drumchapel, Glasgow

Role
The Head of Social Enterprise will manage the Fortune Works service. Fortune Works has existed in various forms since 1960, and today is one of Scotland’s largest social enterprises for adults with learning disabilities. The service promotes choice, autonomy, and meaningful involvement in real economic activity and engagement in the local community.
The service provides tailored, outcome-focused support to up to 120 people. It focuses on community connection, creative expression, and personal development. Central to this approach is our commitment to work-based activity. Through collaborations with external commercial partners, we provide opportunities for service users to learn new skills and complete meaningful tasks. We also have long-standing links with local community groups, statutory agencies, and city-wide institutions such as FE Colleges and universities.
Fortune Works is part of Enable Glasgow. Enable Glasgow is a membership organisation that also runs services for people with learning disabilities in the city. Services include a range of supported living services, social opportunities, social enterprise activity, advocacy, and campaigning. The organisation was founded in 1957, and we currently have around 200 direct service users, and almost 400 members.
The successful applicant will be an experienced manager or supervisor with a background in social care, community development, or social enterprise. They will have a demonstrable ability to manage a busy service, take advantage of opportunities for service development, and build good relationship with external partners. They will have a demonstrable commitment to the human rights and aspirations of people with learning disabilities.
