University Hospital Tees has high ambitions and as a group we are committed to delivering more together for the populations we serve. The role provides specialist safeguarding children advice and support to practitioners across North Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Deliver specialist safeguarding children advice and support to practitioners across North Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
* Provide safeguarding supervision to staff across the organisation to facilitate good practice, professional curiosity and critical thinking.
* Act in accordance with The Children Act 1989 and 2004 and assist in monitoring standards and procedures for safeguarding children in the Trust, including adherence to the requirement of Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018).
* Work closely with Children’s Social Care and other partner agencies to support the development of integrated locality working and provide safeguarding children advice on health matters.
* Contribute to multi‑agency and Trust audits and lead programmes of work to improve safeguarding policies and practice in collaboration with the Named Nurse / Named Midwife.
* Support the Named Nurse / Named Midwife in service development and implementation of learning from local and national safeguarding reviews.
* Contribute to the Trust safeguarding training programme to ensure that training requirements across the organisation are met and the principles of safeguarding are promoted and embedded into everyday professional practice.
Key Relationships
* Internal: Named Nurse, Named Midwife and Named Doctors for Safeguarding Children; Group Associate Director of Safeguarding; Safeguarding Adults Team; Maternity staff, Emergency Department staff, Paediatric staff and Neonatal Unit staff; Health professionals from other organisations including mental health provider trusts and safeguarding teams in other providers.
* External: Designated Nurse Safeguarding Children; Designated Doctor Safeguarding Children; Children’s Social Care; Police services; Named and Senior Nurses in neighbouring and national health care providers; North Tees Safeguarding Children’s Partnership; Other multi‑agency partners including the voluntary sector.
You may be required to work at any site across both University Hospitals Tees Trusts.
