Job Description
Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our Family Placement Team, reporting to the Team Manager for Family Placement. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality social care services for children and families, working alongside dedicated professionals in a collaborative environment.
The Role
As a Senior Social Worker within the Family Placement Team, you will support the Team Manager in operational management and team leadership. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Working directly with children, young people, and their families to provide effective assessments and interventions.
2. Ensuring the delivery of high-quality fostering and adoption services, in line with legislative requirements and best practices.
3. Conducting needs and risk assessments, and implementing appropriate care plans.
4. Providing guidance and supervision to less experienced Social Workers, handling complex cases.
5. Collaborating with other professionals and agencies for holistic support.
6. Contributing to the Team Manager's duties, such as attending management meetings, participating in panels, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified Social Worker with registration with Social Work England.
* Extensive post-qualification experience, preferably within a local authority.
* Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and standards related to fostering and adoption.
* Experience managing complex cases and supervising junior staff.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Fulfilling all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English, as per the Immigration Act 2016.
