Occupational Therapist
Salary: Up to £53,200 FTE DOE plus £3,000 Welcome Bonus (T&C apply).
Location
Meadowcroft School – Wakefield WF1 4AD. Meadowcroft School forms part of Acorn Education brand and is an independent specialist day school supporting children and young people aged 5-19.
Hours and Contract
37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday 08:30am – 16:30pm. Part‑time hours may be considered.
Contract: Permanent (term‑time only, or flexibility around full‑time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances).
Essential Personal Characteristics
Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs.
* Hold an occupational therapy caseload, with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Collaborate with the education team and multidisciplinary clinical team to provide person‑centred, empowering support.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Maintain a strong safeguarding culture and uphold professional standards in all activities.
Essential Criteria
* Recognised Occupational Therapy degree
* Valid and up to date HCPC registration
* Registered member of RCOT
* Minimum 2 years experience
* Relevant experience providing OT services within a similar educational setting preferable
* Experience working with neurodivergent and/or learning difficulty and/or socio‑emotional and mental health difficulties
* Sound knowledge of OT theory and practical application to support independence
* Experience of multi‑professional work with teams or services within the designated speciality preferred
* Ability to work independently, flexibly and confidently
* Clear and concise report writing skills
* Full UK driving licence with access to a car
* Interest in sensory integration or sensory‑informed practice (SI practitioner training preferred but not essential)
