Role Overview:
As a part of the Health and Safety compliance team at Asda, you will support the effective management of Health and Safety operations across our Logistics estate, which includes 2000 drivers, 1100 vehicles, 27 depots, and over 1000 stores. The role involves ensuring compliance with legislation, supporting incident management, analyzing data for continuous improvement, developing procedures, and acting as an ambassador for health, safety, and environment standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
2. Provide expertise to support strategic priorities, including load security training.
3. Assist field teams with incident management and enforcement contacts.
4. Analyze data to create awareness campaigns and leadership insights.
5. Review operational performance data for continuous improvement.
6. Develop procedures for new processes and equipment.
7. Build relationships with key partners such as Training, Operations, and the GMB Union.
8. Horizon scan for emerging risks and ensure compliance.
9. Investigate incidents to identify root causes.
10. Set safety direction for transport operations and support compliance.
11. Develop engaging training materials and support regulatory involvement.
Candidate Profile:
* Strong knowledge of UK HSE regulations and vehicle licensing.
* Operational management experience in retail or logistics, with a focus on H&S or Road Safety.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and adapt quickly.
