Overview

Hopwood Hall College is dedicated to creating a vibrant and engaging environment for our students. We are currently seeking a passionate and dynamic Student Experience Officer to join our expanding team and make a lasting impact on our students' journey.

As a Student Experience Officer, you will play a crucial role in enriching the lives of our students. Your primary focus will be to engage with learners, fostering an environment of enrichment and enjoyment. You will have the opportunity to design and implement a variety of activities and programs that enhance student life and contribute to a positive college experience.


Responsibilities

* Oversee and enhance the holistic student experience within the college, working with curriculum areas and external student organizations to develop initiatives that promote student enhancement.
* Act as an advocate for students, addressing concerns, providing guidance, and advocating for changes to improve the overall student experience.
* Develop and implement the College’s Student Experience Strategy, including the calendar of events.
* Maintain a highly visible presence across all curriculum areas and campuses, encouraging and leading by example to inspire responsibility and community among learners.
* Work with the Student Experience Manager to develop, coordinate and supervise a cross-college calendar of events to raise aspirations and enhance the student experience.
* Provide activities throughout the learner journey from enrolment through progression, including 1:1 support, group work, workshops, and events planned through a central calendar.
* Collaboratively develop, coordinate and support a programme of cross-college student experience activities to develop interpersonal skills (focus weeks, learner voice events, focus groups, PACE sessions).
* Regularly review the impact of activities to support embedding Gatsby Benchmarks and evaluate using the Compass framework to shape the Student Experience Strategy; draft and create an annual report for SLT and Governors.
* Work with Curriculum Managers and Personal Development Tutors to monitor take-up of extracurricular activities (e.g., Duke of Edinburgh award) and liaise with external partners.
* Identify barriers to participation, support needs, safeguarding and welfare concerns; work with Safeguarding and Welfare teams to provide support.
* Assist with general learner activities including open evenings and enrolments; support wider college teams as required; undertake training and CPD as needed.
* Carry out other duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required.


Qualifications and Experience

* Essential Criteria
* Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience (A level or equivalent)
* GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
* Level 2 IT qualification or willingness to work towards
* Level 3 Preparing to Teach qualification
* Previous work with young people or adults
* Able to interact positively with young people and adults
* Ability to use IT to a high level of competence
* Ability to communicate, negotiate and work effectively with internal and external partners
* Creativity and initiative in introducing new concepts and activities
* Ability to keep and evaluate records and statistical data
* Ability to work towards targets and across college including both campuses
* Strong teamwork, leadership, and ability to motivate participation in events
* Ability to work unsupervised, manage own time and priorities, be well organized and self-motivated
* Flexibility and willingness to try new ideas
* Desirable Criteria
* Experience coordinating Duke of Edinburgh awards and volunteering opportunities
* Experience and understanding of the Further Education sector
* Experience of working with mixed ages, cultures and abilities
* Experience of overseeing/monitoring a budget and building costings for events


IT Skills

* Essential Criteria: Intermediate use of Microsoft applications
* Ability to use college systems to generate information and improve efficiency
