Mechanical Design Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative organisation operating at the forefront of space technology. Working within a highly skilled engineering team, you will play a key role in the development of cutting-edge space systems and applications.
The Role
This position will involve the design and development of mechanical assemblies, as well as ground support and test equipment used within demanding space environments. It is a hands-on role offering involvement across the full product lifecycle, from initial concept through to testing and validation.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop mechanical assemblies for space applications
* Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
* Work with a variety of materials and components suitable for space environments
* Carry out structural and thermal analysis using ANSYS
* Participate in and support design reviews
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electronics and systems engineers
* Support testing and validation activities, including development of ground test equipment
Requirements
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
* Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks
* Strong understanding of structural and thermal analysis, ideally using ANSYS
* Previous experience designing mechanical systems or assemblies
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an engineering team
