Precision is excited to partner with a market leader in structural light testing as they grow their team in the Derby area. With a full order book and plans for continued success and growth, this is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual. They are currently seeking a short term technician with prior plant operative experience. The depot is easily accessible from Derby, Castle Donington and surrounding areas.
The Role: Trainee Field Technician:
1. To carry out Structural Testing and Analysis of Lighting Columns throughout the UK for local councils, highways and the rail network.
2. Undertaking the structural testing of lampposts using machinery and test equipment (Digger/cherry picker type arms)
3. Working in small teams (typically 2)
4. Expensed overnight stays (Monday to Thursday) with a return Friday on a weekly basis.
5. Learning Force Deflection, Ultrasonic and Eddy Wave Current technology
6. Using calculation Software
7. Tacho Discipline
8. Providing weekly reports and vehicle check forms
9. Understanding Health & Safety Initiatives
10. Early starts and driving to the test location on a Monday morning
11. Setting up and liaising with contractors and clients on-site
12. Reporting and record keeping
13. Ensuring the security of machinery, vehicles and test equipment
14. Occasional nights/weekend work is required.
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Trainee Field Technician:
15. MUST hold a full, clean UK driving licence (class B+E desirable)
16. Have previous experience of operating machinery such as a cherry picker, digger, JCB, scissor lift or forklift
17. Prior experience in groundwork, highway maintenance, construction labouring, civil engineering or structural mechanics
18. Competent with Excel to create simple reports
19. MUST be happy to stay away from home Monday-Friday
20. Happy to be working outside in all weather conditions
21. Live within 30 minutes of the Derby area
22. Be willing to start early when the role requires
23. Have a strong work ethic and commitment
