Senior Planning Officer - Planning Applications and Mineral & Waste Planning Policy

Role Responsibility

We are seeking an ambitious, organized, and highly motivated Planner to join us in Kent, shaping and influencing development across the County.

The Planning Applications Group offers a Fixed Term opportunity for a Senior Planning Officer. This role is suitable for an Officer with experience in development management and local plan work, looking to further develop their expertise within County planning.

The post involves splitting time between Mineral and Waste Local Plan making and managing development applications, focusing on complex mineral, waste, and community infrastructure projects.

Applicants must hold a relevant degree (or equivalent) as specified in the person specification. Eligibility for Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute is required.

A Full UK Driving Licence is necessary. The Council is committed to inclusivity and will consider applications from candidates unable to drive due to disability, with reasonable adjustments in place.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to operate effectively in a complex environment. An innovative and flexible approach will be essential to achieve successful outcomes and impact on planning, infrastructure, and growth in Kent.

We operate a hybrid working model, combining office-based work in Kent with remote working to meet service needs.

Refer to the job description and person specification for shortlisting criteria.

This position is customer-facing. Under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016), candidates must demonstrate sufficient spoken English/Welsh for effective job performance, as detailed in the Job Description/Person Specification.
