Experienced Social Worker needed for our Child Assessment Team in Bedford - paying £39ph!
We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to work in our Children's and Families Assessment Team in Bedford, where they will hold a caseload of children and provide an effective, evidence-based intervention with consideration of timeliness and impact.
About the role:
* Undertake assessments of children, young people, and families to understand their needs, risks, and strengths.
* Work within Bedford Borough’s systemic practice model, building strong relationships with families to co‑create meaningful assessments and plans.
* Make professional judgments about risk, and conduct statutory work (e.g., child protection, Section 47 investigations).
* Plan, implement, review interventions for children and families based on assessments.
* Record casework accurately, producing analytical reports showing assessment, analysis, and professional decisions.
* Collaborate with multi‑agency partners (education, health, police, etc.) to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
* Use supervision proactively: to reflect, develop as a practitioner, and meet performance / development goals.
* Work within Bedford Borough Council’s equality, safeguarding, and professional frameworks.
Responsibilities:
* Assessments: Carry out statutory assessments (e.g., single assessments, child and family assessments) in compliance with legislation and local procedures.
* Planning & Intervention: Develop and deliver interventions / plans, review them over time.
* Caseload Management: Independently manage a caseload, escalating or seeking support as needed.
* Risk Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage risk to children; make safeguarding decisions.
* Record‑Keeping: Maintain timely, accurate records; write reports; document professional judgement.
* Partnership Working: Liaise with other agencies, attend meetings, gather information, contribute to multi‑agency planning.
* Professional Development: Use supervision, reflect on practice, engage in continuous professional development.
