Join our dedicated team as a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant in a specialist SEMH primary school in West Sussex. This temporaryopportunity is perfect for individuals passionate about inclusive education and eager to grow professionally in a structured and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
* Assist teachers in preparing differentiated lessons and creating learning materials tailored to pupils with SEMH needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
* Support pupils in small groups and one-to-one settings across all curriculum areas, reinforcing behavioural, social, and emotional learning strategies.
* Help pupils develop independence and confidence through personalised learning and therapeutic support.
* Liaise with teachers, care staff, and external professionals to support pupil progress and ensure a cohesive educational approach.
* Participate in educational visits and contribute to creative and practical activities that enhance learning experiences.
* Carry out basic administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and display work to support classroom activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Full-time availability (Monday–Friday, 08:40–15.55).
* Experience working with children, ideally in an educational or SEMH setting.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
* Good ICT skills and ability to support learning with technology.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
