An exciting opportunity has become available within the Paediatric Respiratory Service at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, QMC campus. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a passion for delivering high standards of care to join our team. Excellent communication skills are essential. You must be reliable and able to work flexibly in partnership with an experienced clinical support worker as part of our wider multi-disciplinary team. Following appropriate training, you will undertake clinical and non-clinical duties autonomously to provide the day-to-day running of the sleep study service and a comprehensive administrative service for the respiratory nursing team.
The post will be 24 hours per week, split over a minimum of 4 days (excluding weekends and bank holidays). The post requires working Thursdays, with flexibility for other working days, ensuring the core service hours of 0930–1400 are covered.
Key Performance Areas include coordinating the organisation of sleep studies for children and young people attending Nottingham Childrens Hospital, running a daily outpatient clinic, and providing a comprehensive administrative service for the sleep study service and respiratory nursing team.

Key Job Responsibilities
* Clinical
* To liaise with families in person, by telephone, e-mail or in writing regarding paediatric sleep study referrals.
* Following appropriate training and under supervision of a Registered Nurse, work independently as part of a team coordinating and organising the sleep study service for children and young people.
* To run a daily clinic, demonstrating how to use sleep study equipment to ward staff, patients, parents and carers; distribute equipment and answer questions.
* Prioritise workload, particularly urgent studies, and provide equipment quickly and efficiently for inpatients.
* Download patients sleep study recordings and return completed reports promptly.
* Refer any patient concerns to the paediatric respiratory team and maintain safeguarding knowledge for children and young people.
* Coordinate the use and maintenance of equipment; ensure servicing is up to date and replacements are available for community children while equipment is serviced.
* Coordinate with MESU to maintain quality assurance for equipment.
* Monitor stock levels and contact relevant company representatives as needed.
* Clerical
* Competently use hospital IT systems (e.g., CareFlow, WebHISS, DHR). Maintain Excel spreadsheets and create Word documents.
* Book appointments into daily sleep study clinics following time-specific pathways to meet waiting time targets.
* Assist in the development and maintenance of the paediatric sleep studies database and keep accurate records of all contacts with the child and family.
* Assist in implementing audits and patient satisfaction questionnaires and use findings to improve the service.
* Assist in organising educational study days for the respiratory team as appropriate.
* Communication
* Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to promote efficient patient care and maintain channels of communication. Attend meetings and take minutes as appropriate.
* Report accidents and untoward incidents and complete incident forms per Trust policy.
* Maintain accurate patient records (written and electronic) and ensure confidentiality and proper storage of records.
* Liaise with other wards and departments to coordinate patient care and smooth running of the sleep studies service.
* Personal Professional
* Demonstrate knowledge of Trust policies and maintain a professional manner at all times.
* Take responsibility for completing and delivering work to a high standard within allocated timescales; undertake mandatory and job-specific training.
* Participate in annual performance reviews; use initiative in planning routines; work with minimal supervision while seeking supervision when needed.
* Undertake other duties reasonably required and participate in educational programmes across the paediatric respiratory service and wider trust.
* Management
* Support a culture of teamwork; use resources effectively while considering budgetary issues; comply with Health and Safety and Infection Control policies; maintain a safe environment.
General Duties
* Infection Control: Maintain a clean, safe environment in line with Trust standards.
* Safeguarding: Comply with safeguarding policies for children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Information Governance: Create accurate records and manage NHS records per policy.
* Health and Safety: Follow Trust policies, report issues, and use protective equipment as provided.
* Governance and Wellbeing: Participate in governance activities and look after personal health and wellbeing; details available on the staff intranet.
* Working Conditions
* Mental Effort: Concentrate for frequent periods with a predictable pattern.
* Physical Effort: Handle equipment; work at least three days a week (excluding weekends/Bank Holidays) with Friday shifts as required; work across clinical and office environments.
* Emotional Effort: Engage with families in emotive situations and communicate complex needs.
