Adult Wellbeing Services (AWS) are delivered through a partnership between County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) and the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP), and include the Wellbeing for Life (WBFL) service. WBFL is a commissioned programme in County Durham, built on the principle of Your Wellbeing, Your Way. Using a behaviour change model, the team supports individuals living and working across the county to take small, tailored steps towards better health.

The Training Officer will work collaboratively with the wider AWS team to design, develop, and deliver a wide range of capacity-building training programmes and activities across County Durham. These will be aimed at staff, volunteers, community members, and businesses/organisations. The role includes continuous service improvement and evaluation of training courses to ensure they remain effective, relevant, and responsive to local needs.

Working closely with the Community & Quality Project Lead, the post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of systems that support staff, learners, and volunteers -ensuring the delivery and evaluation of high-quality training. They will also play a key role in supporting centre recognition with awarding bodies, including but not limited to the Royal Society for Public Health and AIM.

The Training Officer will be responsible for ensuring quality assurance across all aspects of the training offer, including undertaking competency-based assessments of staff, observing practice, and maintaining high standards. They will actively promote and support the continuous improvement and development of the training and capacity-building offer, helping to address health inequalities and promote wellbeing - particularly mental wellbeing -within communities and workplaces.

Strong communication skills and local knowledge are essential for engaging effectively with members of the public. A flexible approach to working across the geographical patch is required to meet the diverse needs of local communities. A willingness to complete mandatory and role-specific training within agreed timescales is also essential.

Job Purpose

1. To design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality, needs-led training programmes that support the aims of Adult Wellbeing Services (AWS) across County Durham.

2. To build capacity within communities, workplaces, and organisations by promoting health and wellbeing, with a strong focus on mental wellbeing.

3. To contribute to reducing health inequalities through targeted training and support.

4. To ensure training provision is aligned with recognised standards, quality assurance processes, and approval requirements.

5. To support the development and implementation of systems that enhance the experience of staff, learners, and volunteers.

6. To contribute to the development of digital training programmes and support the integration of volunteers into AWS and community settings.

Job Description

1. To develop and deliver a wide range of capacity-building training programmes to staff, volunteers, community members, and businesses/organisations, following approved training standards and processes.

2. To organise and deliver health and wellbeing sessions and/or training in community settings, as directed by the Community & Quality Project Lead.

3. To update course materials to reflect changes in policy, best practice, legislation, and evaluation feedback.

4. To contribute to the development and delivery of digital training programmes.

5. To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sessions delivered, providing regular reports on progress and impact.

6. To liaise with multi-agency partners, such as Drug & Alcohol services, to support communities through wellbeing programmes.

7. To ensure accurate data is recorded regarding training delivery and provide summary reports to the Community & Quality Project Lead.

8. To audit and maintain training resources, stock, and equipment levels.

9. To support the planning and coordination of health and wellbeing campaigns as outlined in the work programme.

10. To support the development and integration of volunteers within AWS and in community-based activities.

11. To assist the wider service in delivering wellbeing interventions and client support when required.

12. To work flexibly as part of the team, providing cover for colleagues and maintaining appropriate staffing levels across the programme.

13. To work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, in response to service needs.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From £26,532.00 per year
