This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. The role involves continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Review Health Risk Assessments with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to identify hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required monitoring or surveillance programs.
* Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic hazards, including but not limited to:
o Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
o Chemical exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, welding fumes, toxic gases)
o Asbestos Management and surveys
o Noise and vibration management
o Radiation management
o Thermal hazard assessment
o Potable water management
o Communicable diseases, mould, spores, animal/insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
• Recommend and design control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, and RPE testing and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training (e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use).
• Conduct assurance activities (inspections and audits) across operational sites, including accommodation and welfare areas.
• Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene.
* At least 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
* Strong drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and influence management and staff.
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and reports.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
