The Opportunity
Permanent role with our Consulting Structures Team. Our Belfast Design Hub delivers local, national and international projects for clients including Department for Infrastructure – TRAM (Roads) & WDD (Rivers), Translink, National Highways, Transport Scotland and Network Rail.

Role & Responsibilities
As an Assistant Engineer you will play an important part in every stage of a project from inception to completion.
* Work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions
* Support the management and technical delivery of projects from start to finish, including:
o Design development
o Structural assessments
o Principal inspections / special inspections
o Feasibility and other technical reports
* Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme
* Support effective health and safety practices within the team
Qualifications & Experience
* Developed experience and expertise within Structural / Civil Engineering field, usually gained in a Graduate Engineer role or equivalent
* Knowledge of structural design processes and procedures
* Ability to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working without significant supervision and moving towards overseeing more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks
* Experienced in following procedures associated with the management of health, safety and welfare, e.g. Amey’s Integrated Management System and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
* Knowledge and understanding of technical and specification processes, and is starting to take ownership for the production of deliverables with appropriate supervision
* Good competence with relevant software and similar analytical tools
* Basic understanding of CDM and risk assessment; experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects
* Demonstrates a basic understanding of the different interfaces on projects
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject
