Role Summary This strategic appointment is driven by the organisation's rapid expansion and ambition to enhance their flight control systems. The Senior Manager - Flight Controls Actuation will play a vital role in leading the development and integration of actuation systems critical to next-generation aircraft. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence key technologies, lead cross-functional teams, and contribute significantly to projects that will set new safety and performance benchmarks in aerospace. Responsibilities Lead and oversee the design, development, and integration of flight control actuation systems, ensuring alignment with project goals and industry standards. Manage multidisciplinary teams, providing technical guidance and driving successful delivery of complex engineering tasks. Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to ensure the highest quality standards and compliance with certification requirements. Develop and review system requirements, ensuring robust architecture for safe and reliable actuation systems. Support testing, validation, and certification processes, aligning activities with relevant regulatory frameworks. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise system performance, reliability, and safety. Maintain awareness of industry trends and technological innovations related to flight control actuation. Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience in managing or developing flight control actuation systems or other safety-critical aerospace control systems. Strong knowledge of aerospace certification standards, including ARP-4754, DO-178C, and DO-254. Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects. Excellent stakeholder management, with experience in collaborating with external suppliers and internal teams. Sound understanding of aerospace systems architecture, safety analysis, and verification processes. Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Desirable Skills & Experience Prior experience in leadership roles within innovative aerospace or mobility companies. Knowledge of electrical and electronic actuation systems, sensors, and control hardware. Experience with regulatory certification processes for innovative aircraft.
