Role: Paralegal - Costings Services
Reports to: Department Manager
Office base: Wigan, WN3 5BA
Hours: Between 21 hours per week (part time) & 35 hours per week (full time) available.
Working Days: Between 4 and 5 per week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal within our Costings department. We require somebody to work a minimum of 21 hours per week over 4 days but have flexibility to offer up to 35 hours per week.
The role:
The role involves supporting and assisting fee earners in carrying out duties and where appropriate dealing with clients and opponents in a cost effective manner under direct supervision
What you'll be doing?
* Opening and closing files
* Communicating with client and opponents via email and over the phone
* Assisting fee earners with case progression such as chasing counsel, seeking extensions and making costs offers.
* Carries out general administrative support duties
* Controls and manages of Work in Progress ensuring that it is recorded and converted into paid Profit Costs, under supervision and direction.
* Effective management of own time, ensuring that chargeable and non-chargeable hours targets are met.
* Conducts other duties such as paying invoices, closing files and clearing balances.
* Compliant with Client Care and Complaints procedures in order to minimize the risk of negligence and complies with Law Society Rules.

About You:
Essential:-
* 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths at C and above.
* Experience of admin duties
* Experience of answering the telephone
* Good standard of computer literacy
* Excellent communication skills at all levels, both face to face and over the telephone
* Organisation and time Management Skills
* Awareness of the work undertaken by a solicitors office
Desirable:-
* Experience of admin or fee earner support duties within a law firm
* Experience of using a Case Management system
* Experience of invoicing.
* Awareness of Solicitors Accounts Rules
Personality/Other Qualities
* Discretion and ability to work in a confidential environment
* Pleasant, approachable, patient, polite
* Ability to work amidst frequent interruptions whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to be flexible to suit the needs of the Dept.
* Ability to work as part of a team
