The Role
C4C is seeking a visionary
Chief Financial Officer
to lead our investment strategy, capital raising, and strategic partnership development. This is a mission-critical role for someone who has already
raised £10M+ in equity/grants/debt for an industrial-tech company
and can
leverage their network to unlock both investment and market traction
.
You will work closely with the CEO and board to prepare the company for large-scale investment and commercialisation. This includes building a best-in-class finance function, securing strategic capital, structuring strategic alliances, and supporting scale-up execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead C4C's investment readiness: data room, financial models, cap table, DD, and investor decks
* Develop and execute the fundraising strategy across VCs, corporates, and non-dilutive sources
* Leverage your investor/banking network to access aligned capital and connect C4C to strategic players
* Secure strategic partnerships and commercial contracts to enable technology scale-up
* Lead commercial negotiations and long-term partnership structuring
* Build and professionalise the finance team, systems, and controls to support rapid growth
* Manage financial controls for large (grant funded) projects like pilot equipment procurement and sub contract spending
* Oversee financial operations, reporting, compliance, and cashflow management
* Support board governance, scenario planning, and strategic decision-making
* Represent C4C to external stakeholders including investors, banks, government agencies, and partners
* Grant financial claim management and compliance reporting
Essential Requirements
* Proven track record of raising
£10M+
(equity, convertible, or structured finance) for deep-tech focused SMEs or start-ups operating at
CFO or senior commercial/finance executive
* Strong relationships with
VCs, family offices, banks, or investment institutions
— can be demonstrated through past closings
* Background in
deep-tech, advanced materials, climate tech
, or industrial sectors
* Experience closing
strategic deals
: JVs, licensing, long-term supply/offtake agreements, or IP partnerships
* Strong command of financial modelling, cap table, term sheets, and company valuation
* High integrity, accountability, and ability to thrive in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment
* Prior experience with pilot plant or manufacturing scale-up financial planning or equivalent large project cash flow
* Experience in financial management linked to large (£10m+)
UK/EU grant-funded projects
, R&D tax credits, and reporting
Desirable
* Experience scaling companies from Seed to Growth
* Strong network within
built environment, cement/concrete industry, or decarbonisation space
* Familiarity with corporate development, M&A, or licensing in technology commercialisation
* Background in investment banking, corporate finance, or venture capital a plus
