The role is based at 2 Kings Court, Worcester, WR5 1JR and offers a hybrid approach, with 3 days in the office or at one of our sites and up to 2 days working at home.
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity within an inhouse legal team at a community and mental health NHS Trust. The team provides a comprehensive legal service, covering inquests, claims, employment, court of protection and general queries across the host trust and a neighbouring acute trust. The work is varied and can be unpredictable. The role is challenging but rewarding, supporting frontline staff to deliver excellent patient care. The candidate will need significant experience undertaking employment litigation and giving employment advice. Ideally, the successful candidate will have exposure to other areas covered by the legal team (inquests, claims, court of protection and general healthcare queries); training will be provided, but there must be a willingness to branch out into these additional areas.
This is a full-time post, but part-time applications will be considered. Interviews are scheduled for 16th October 2025.
Responsibilities
* Lead on employment litigation and provide employment advisory services.
* Develop relationships with staff at both NHS trusts as well as external stakeholders to deliver high-quality service.
* Support areas including inquests, claims, court of protection and matters relating to confidentiality.
* Collaborate with a team of 3 solicitors and 4 paralegal staff to support the work undertaken.
* Respond to urgent queries and assist other staff as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Solicitor or Barrister, or equivalent, with current ability to practise.
* Significant experience of advocacy in Employment Tribunals and extensive experience in employment law.
* Sound knowledge of the principles and processes of dealing with English Courts and Tribunal Services; ability to analyse and advise on highly complex matters, both orally and in writing.
* Desirable: experience of healthcare law; experience in other forms of healthcare-related litigation (e.g., Coroners Court, professional regulatory matters).
* UK professional registration and ability to provide original certificates to verify qualifications at offer.
