This is a senior post with clinical responsibility for adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties following stroke.
The post holder will work in the in-patient team delivering SLT to acute patients but may be required to work in other settings on an occasional basis.
The post holder will be a member of the multidisciplinary stroke team.
The post holder will:
* assess, diagnose and manage own specialist caseloads of complex patients as an autonomous clinician in accordance with Professional Code of Conduct and Health and Care Professions Council Regulations.
* participate in the development and delivery of training to others.
* provide support to Speech and Language Therapy team members regarding clients presenting with complex communication and swallowing disorders associated with stroke and acquired neurological conditions.
* supervise Speech and Language Therapy Support Practitioners and volunteers.
* provide student placements.
* contribute to the induction, mentoring and support of other less experienced staff.
* use the Trust values at all times as a framework for own behaviour and encourage others to do likewise, ensuring the values underpin all that is done

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our inpatient team. You will be part of the team delivering communication and dysphagia services on the acute stroke ward at New Cross Hospital. The SLT acute stroke team is embedded as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, and we provide community and rehab inpatient services.
