FREELANCE ROLE

About The Good Housekeeping Institute…

Step into the cutting-edge world of the Good Housekeeping Institute, where science meets everyday life. Our labs are kitted out with state-of-the-art tech that puts products through their paces — measuring everything from suction power and energy efficiency to brightness and beyond. As part of the team, you’ll dive deep into the details, using products just like a real consumer would. Your mission? To see if they truly live up to their promises and deliver on what they claim. It’s hands-on, investigative, and all about thinking like a customer to uncover the truth behind the marketing.

Main Duties…

1. Collaborate closely with the Home Operations Manager to carry out hands-on product tests and organise engaging consumer testing panels.
2. Follow rigorous test protocols with precision, ensuring every result is accurately recorded, analysed, and entered into our product database.
3. Take the lead on testing projects, working independently to drive them from start to finish with confidence and attention to detail.
4. Join forces with editorial, digital, and commercial teams in cross-functional meetings, where your insights and ideas for testing can help shape content and campaigns.
5. Manage product sample logistics, ensuring every item is delivered and tested within tight, pre-agreed timelines.

What We Are Looking For…

6. Showcase hands-on practical skills and a genuine passion for home products.
7. Demonstrate strong analytical abilities, with confidence in interpreting and drawing insights from data.
8. Bring experience from a practical environment, whether through university, or roles with a manufacturer, supplier, or retailer.
9. Excel in interpersonal communication, comfortably interacting with stakeholders at all levels — both internally and externally.
10. Display strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
11. Be a natural problem solver, ready to think on your feet and tackle challenges head-on.
