Lead Midwife for Perinatal Optimisation – Band 7, 37.5 hours, permanent – at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Experienced and passionate midwife looking to make a real impact on maternity outcomes. This role will shape and advance services focused on prevention and management of preterm birth, improving outcomes for women, babies and families.
Working across Frimley Park Hospital and Wexham Park Hospital, you will lead the implementation and coordination of evidence‑based perinatal optimisation pathways for women identified as having an increased risk of preterm labour and birth.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert clinical leadership across maternity services to improve perinatal outcomes, focusing on preterm birth prevention, management and fetal growth surveillance.
* Lead service coordination, quality improvement, audit and education, ensuring effective implementation of NHS England Saving Babies’ Lives Care Bundle elements (Element 5 – Reducing Preterm Birth, Element 2 – Fetal Growth Restriction).
* Identify, monitor and manage women at risk of preterm birth and/or fetal growth restriction.
* Embed evidence‑based fetal growth surveillance and preterm birth pathways within maternity services.
* Collaborate with antenatal screening, ultrasound, obstetric, neonatal, patient safety and quality teams to deliver safe, high‑quality, personalised care.
* Contribute to reducing stillbirth, preterm birth and neonatal morbidity through implementation of national guidance and local improvement initiatives.
* Maintain post‑registration professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications – Essential
* Registered Midwife currently on NMC register
* Evidence of CPD
Qualifications – Desirable
* Qualification for cervical length measurement by ultrasound
Experience – Essential
* Significant post‑registration experience (Band 6 or higher)
* Broad range of clinical midwifery experience
Experience – Desirable
* Experience in guideline development and implementation
* Experience in research and audit
* Experience in implementing and influencing clinical governance processes

* Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload effectively
