About the role
We are recruiting a full-time Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Hospital Specialist Palliative Care team at Cardiff and Vale. The role focuses on the clinical assessment and management of cancer and non‑cancer patients in an acute setting.
Responsibilities
* Act as an autonomous practitioner undertaking specialist assessment of palliative care patients.
* Develop management plans for appropriate symptom management or support.
* Evaluate care and treatment outcomes.
* Provide clinical advice to all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients, carers and other agencies.
* Participate in a CNS rolling rota covering service over weekends and bank holidays.
* Contribute to the education, research and service evaluation agenda within the palliative care service.
* Work flexible hours across University Hospital of Wales and Llandough Hospital, including weekends and bank holidays, as part of a rolling rota to assist in a seven-day service.
Qualifications & Skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, particularly for difficult conversations with patients and families, and for coordinating with wider palliative care services across Cardiff and Vale UHB and other agencies.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
