Summary
We are seeking a skilled Production Technician to join our team in Oldbury. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our manufacturing process, ensuring the continuous operation of machinery and equipment by performing preventive maintenance, repairing breakdowns, trouble shooting faults, whilst adhering to strict food safety and hygiene regulations.
This role involves tasks like mechanical and electrical repairs, equipment installation, and working with maintenance management systems to keep production running smoothly, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives within the food manufacturing environment.
Machines include, Powder blender, Tablet presses, Capsule filling machines, packaging line machinery, ancillary machines. (Training provided).
Key Responsibilities
* Preventive Maintenance: Conduct planned servicing and preventive maintenance on production machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
* Breakdown Repair: Respond to and quickly diagnose faults on machinery during production, then carry out timely repairs to minimize downtime.
* Equipment Maintenance: Service and repair various types of equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, and component replacement where required.
* Installation & Setup: Assist with the installation, setup, and monitoring of new plant and equipment.
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, update work logs in maintenance management systems, and report on progress to managers.
* Food Safety & Hygiene: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene standards and regulations.
* Teamwork & Communication: Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, quality teams, and production staff.
* Continuous Improvement: Contribute to technical performance reviews, process improvement, and the development of new products.
Skills and Qualifications
* Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of the machinery and systems relevant to food production.
* Electrical & Mechanical Skills: Expertise in performing first-line electrical maintenance, diagnosing faults, and carrying out mechanical repairs.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues.
* Safety Awareness: A strong understanding of food safety, health and safety regulations, and a commitment to safe working practices.
* Physical Stamina: Ability to handle the physical demands of the role.
* Multi-skilling: Often a combination of fitter and electrician skills (multi-skilled technician).
Working hours 6am-2pm and 1.30pm 10pm - WEEKLY ROTATION.
