Position
Post: Band 5 Occupational Therapist
Base: Treetops Ward, Cygnet Hospital Sherwood, Rufford Colliery Lane, Rainworth, Mansfield, NG21 0HR
Salary: £32,883 per year
Caseload: Up to 16 patients
Responsible to: Service Manager for line‑management supervision & Occupational Therapist (Band 6 or above) for professional supervision.
Hours: 40 hours per week (5 days)
Responsibilities
* Assess and treat individuals in a 16‑bed male acute inpatient service.
* Provide a safe and stabilising environment for patients experiencing an acute episode of mental illness.
* Support patients to manage their mental health and reinforce daily living skills.
* Plan and prepare for discharge in a robust and timely fashion, reducing lengths of stay.
* Collaborate closely and collaboratively with service users, families, referrers, and a multidisciplinary team.
* Contribute to service model development and evidence‑based practice under the guidance of a clinical lead occupational therapist.
Preceptorship & Induction
* 12‑month Occupational Therapy Preceptorship for all newly qualified occupational therapists to support and consolidate core skills.
* Optional sensory integration preceptorship for those with an interest in sensory integration.
* New starters complete an induction incorporating service line occupational therapy processes as in‑house orientation.
Requirements & Screening
The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check. An offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
