Horizon Teachers are currently working with a Special Needs School in Lewisham that are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a child in their Year 4 class that has Autism and requires extra support within class. This Specialist School caters for children aged 4 - 19 with Special Educational Needs, such as Autism. This school is passionate about creating innovating learning opportunities to best help promote development for all children.As a Learning Support Assistant within this school, you will need to help manage children's behaviour and support with class work. You will be working alongside a team of experienced and passionate Teachers and Support Staff within the school.This role is to start in May or ASAP until the end of the academic year in July 2024, on a full time basis. What the school are looking for in their Learning Support Assistants:
* Supporting a mixed class of students aged 4 -16
* Carrying out behaviour management in line with the school's policies and procedures
* Accompanying and supporting students with their academic and personal development.
* Being proactive in the class to ensure your learning support is tailored to each child's individual need.
* Using skills learned such as Team Teach or Manual Handling (desirable)
