The MedicalUndergraduate Team have an exciting opportunity within South Tyneside andSunderland Foundation Trust to appoint a Clinical Support Worker. The ClinicalSupport worker will work alongside Teaching Fellows and Clinical Educators tofacilitate the delivery of the University of Sunderland Medical SchoolCurriculum.
We are available to meet prospective candidates and give them theopportunity to visit the hospital and meet colleagues with whom they will beworking. We find this helps candidates to gain a greater understanding of thedepartment and the post and to find out if they would be happy joining ourteam.

Main duties of the job
The main dutiesof the role include maintaining equipment, ordering supplies and preparing theenvironment for teaching sessions. The post holder will also offer care andassistance to patients when they are on site to support student assessments andteaching and will complete administrative tasks such as room bookings, notetaking and sending letters to patients.
MedicalEducation is a dynamic and fast paced environment, and the post holder will beexpected to work to tight timeframes, organise their own workload and be ableto prioritise tasks. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, bothwritten and verbal and be flexible and committed to team working.
The post isfull time over a 5-day week with the potential for flexible workingarrangements. The job will be based at the Sunderland site but the post holder willbe expected to travel to South Tyneside District Hospital, when the jobrequires.
Candidates mustbe able to demonstrate that their level of skill and experience reflect therequirements in the job description and person specification.

Job responsibilities

* To provide support and assistance to the Medical Education Teaching Faculty to deliver a high quality service.
* To offer care and assistance to all patients, relatives and significant others during their attendance for educational purposes. This care will include a meet & greet, refreshments and physical assistance during the examination process (for patients) i.e. undressing, transferring onto the bed.
* To complete some basic administrative tasks and be able to use MS Office (eg word and excel).
