About the role
As a Housing Support Worker, you'll be at the heart of providing safe, nurturing accommodation and wraparound support for people who have experienced homelessness, care leavers, and others who need help to rebuild their lives. You'll develop and review individualised support plans, focusing on each person's strengths and goals, and help them manage their tenancy, income, and daily living skills.
You'll work alongside residents to build structure into their daily lives, encourage engagement with services, and support them to reconnect with interests and passions. The role involves practical support with housing management, benefits, and daily living skills, but at its core, it's about building relationships based on trust, respect, and hope.
You'll also:
* Facilitate and support people in decision making and involvement in their support meetings.
* Provide excellent rent and service charge collection, including regular account monitoring.
* Support residents in making claims for housing benefit and other benefits.
* Ensure residents are linked into support from other agencies.
* Maintain residents' records and adhere to health and safety standards.
* Work flexibly, including providing cover for colleagues as required.
What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* A positive and friendly approach.
* Experience working alongside people who have experienced difficult times, with a person-centred ethos.
* Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively in potentially stressful environments.
* Effective time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and the welfare benefits system (desirable).
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* A willingness and the ability to travel with full access to your own vehicle.
