Service Care Solutions are working alongside a Local Authority in Bolton who are looking to recruit a talented Group Accountant to join their team on a temporary contract. Please find a description of the role below.
Role: Group Accountant
Location: Bolton
Rate: £23 (PAYE exc.) / £25 per hour (umbrella)
Working: Hybrid (2-3 days per week from home)
Contract: 3 months on going
Role Overview:
* Lead the preparation of budgets, financial returns, monitoring, and final accounts in line with deadlines and legislative requirements.
* Manage relationships with internal and external auditors, government departments, and partner organisations.
* Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and contribute to strategic financial planning.
* Provide financial oversight for new projects and tenders, including appraisals, due diligence, and risk assessments.
* Develop and streamline financial processes using technology to enhance efficiency and support decision-making.
* Act as the finance lead on multidisciplinary project groups, supporting operational teams in business case development and bid submissions.
* Line manage, coach, and support the development of the accountancy services team, ensuring excellent service delivery.
* Provide expert financial advice and training to internal stakeholders and external partners.
* Support grant funding processes, ensuring compliance with conditions and reporting requirements.
* Deputise for the Principal Group Accountant or Head of Strategic Finance as required.
