Children's Services Manager – Join a dedicated team on the Western Isles to lead the delivery of high‑quality children and families services.
Key responsibilities
* Operational management and strategic development of Children and Families Social Work functions, including Child Protection, Looked After Children, Youth Justice, Throughcare/Aftercare and family‑based therapeutic services across the Western Isles.
* Chair Child Care Reviews, monitor quality of child care services and support continuous improvement.
* Lead a multidisciplinary team, manage competing demands, provide negotiation and problem‑solving skills, and motivate staff.
* Work collaboratively with other services and agencies, ensuring integration of assessment and care management.
Essential qualifications
* Diploma in Social Work or equivalent with extensive post‑qualifying experience of Social Work in a local authority setting.
* Experience chairing Child Care Reviews, monitoring quality of child care services and managing a social work team.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Registration with the Social Work (SSSC) scheme.
* Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme (legal requirement for the role).
Benefits and practical details
* 37 hours per week, permanent post.
* Salary £56,374 – £61,371 per annum, inclusive of £2,859 per annum Distant Islands Allowance.
