There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Kent division is looking to recruit an Assistant Site Manager to join the Division’s Construction team.
The Role
The role of Assistant Site Manager, reports to the Site Manager and Construction Manager and assists with the responsibility for managing all aspects of a construction development site, ensuring the provision of safe, efficient and cost effective works at all times, while maintaining the highest quality of work and customer service are delivered within the given timescales.
Principal accountabilities of the role include:
1. Support the Site Manager with the day to day running of the development and provide clear direction to those working on the construction site regarding their responsibilities and targets
2. Assist with management and implementation of health and safety procedures, working closely with Bellway Health and Safety Managers to ensure that that all aspects of health and safety are followed and adhered too.
3. Motivate, support and manage directly employed site staff, providing toolbox talks, training, coaching, and support as required to improve performance
4. Ensure site presentation is maintained to the correct standard at all times
5. Support the Site Manager to deliver all aspects of production requirements in strict accordance with relevant technical and planning documentation provided and any subsequent instructions that may be necessary from time to time
6. Fully conform to building regulations and warranty providers’ requirements (NHBC, LABC Services)
7. Assist the Site Manager with producing accurate production/progress returns and ensure that they are updated and sent to the Construction Manager and/or Construction Director as requested
8. Assist the Site Manager in undertaking company directed quality control procedures and inspections at the correct timings, and rectifying any defects so as not to incur additional cost, time delays to the programme, or reduction in the final quality
9. Assist the site manager in monitoring and controlling the cost of production, and approving payment to contractors and trades where appropriate
10. Ensure that adequate site records are maintained including but not limited to Site Managers reports, labour requirements, plant, materials, site inductions and health and safety records
11. Thoroughly inspect and ensure any remedial work is completed in advance of each NHBC key stage inspection
12. Working with sales through regular sales/build meetings to ensure a smooth and controlled delivery of homes for customers
13. Carry out New Home demonstration Tour and other customer tours in line with the company’s customer first procedures to give a good demonstration of the home, answering any questions, and rectifying any issues before Legal Completion
14. Be responsible for delivering excellent customer service to customers in line with company customer first guidelines
15. Accept responsibility for such duties and responsibilities as the Site Manager may determine; in particular, as and when required, deputise for the Site Manager
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
16. Experience of working as an Assistant Site Manager with a high volume residential house builder
17. Experience of effectively managing teams
18. Up to date knowledge of health and safety, building legislation and current NHBC standards
Qualifications and Training
19. GCSE Maths and English – Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
20. Valid CSCS card at Site Manager level (or equivalent)
21. Valid SMSTS certificate
22. Valid First Aid certificate
23. Construction Management – HNC Level 4, HND Level 5 or NVQ Level 6 is desirable
24. Valid Scaffold Appreciation certificate is desirable
25. Valid LOLER certificate is desirable
