Main responsibilities
* Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams, ensuring clinical quality standards are met and exceeded.
* Deliver and oversee patient care for a 21‑bed Neuro Critical Care Unit, managing both elective and emergency pathways.
* Develop and mentor staff, fostering their professional growth and maintaining competency standards.
* Coordinate and manage unit resources, staffing, and workflow to optimise patient outcomes.
* Participate in unit developments, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence‑based practice projects.
* Represent the unit within the Trust and external forums, promoting best practice and collaboration.
Person specification
Education and qualifications
* RGN Level One
* NMC registered
* Completion of a national practice assessor training or equivalent qualification for ENB998.
* First degree (or working towards one) demonstrating graduate attributes.
Experience
* Completion of recognised accredited ICU course modules.
* Extensive experience at Band 6 in critical care, specifically Neuro Critical Care.
* Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team.
* Demonstrated involvement in unit developments and specific responsibilities within the NCCU.
* Completion of advanced clinical and management competencies.
Skills and knowledge
* Evidence of relevant post‑basic training and continuous professional development.
* Excellent communication skills: active listening, written and verbal, with individuals and multidisciplinary teams.
