Community Staff Nurse for Health Visiting
Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust has an exciting vacancy for a part‑time staff nurse to join the West Berkshire health visiting team.
We are looking for a highly organised, motivated staff nurse to support the health visiting service in West Berkshire.
The ideal candidate will have good organisational, IT and communication skills and a passion for the health and well‑being of children aged 0-5 years and their families.
You must be a driver and have use of a car.
Main duties of the job
* Work with the HV team to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), particularly 6-8 week postnatal contacts. Provide support to families in a range of community settings under the direction of the Health Visitor, considering diverse needs.
* Plan and deliver health‑enhancing activities for children and families, including groups, child health clinics, developmental reviews, and individual support. Provide support using the Solihull approach for behaviour management, parenting skills, and care programmes for vulnerable families identified by the Health Visitor.
* Support breastfeeding and parent‑infant relationships in line with Unicef UK Baby Friendly Initiative standards. Contribute to the Chat Health text service, offering advice to parents. Maintain awareness of local safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Work in partnership with Children’s Centres and Early Years settings to promote health and wellbeing. Undertake additional responsibilities within the team under Health Visitor direction.
* Act as a practice supervisor for pre‑registration nursing students and new staff, supporting placements and learning environments. Participate in clinical, management, and child protection supervision.
* Liaise with agencies to provide integrated support for families. Deliver evidence‑based care and support others' development. Contribute to teaching programmes and training for students and new staff. Work within staff nurse competency framework.
