Position Summary
Reporting to manager appointed as applicable, the Senior Structural Designer is responsible for carrying out Structural Design for the Company. This role plays an essential part of the success of the business by ensuring that the Company continues to drive innovation and deliver commercially viable products, to achieve the Companies objectives of growth and profitability.
Duties And Responsibilities
1. Skilled in preparing and checking design deliverables within the budget hours/Norms and schedule
2. Resolve technical queries and ensure satisfactory
3. Competent in completing site surveys and interpret survey data/document in completion of design deliverables
4. Supervision of other discipline designers as determined by the Lead or Principal Designer
5. Competent in preparing design scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates where necessary.
6. Report on job progress.
7. Management of 3rd Party Suppliers in the execution of design delivery as required
8. Support preparation of pre-qualification responses, proposals, tenders and programmes for work.
9. Comply with relevant codes of conduct.
10. Ensure that all work complies with the Company and Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures as appropriate
11. Report any incidents/near misses, hazards, unsafe acts/conditions, or positive behaviour to a responsible person immediately, and participate in incident investigations where required
12. Actively participate in HSE meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, HSE audits, and other relevant meetings where required
13. Perform work responsibly, taking account of environmental, social and economic requirements
Qualifications
Highest Qualifications
14. HND or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline with sufficient post-qualification experience to be considered as possessing a good working knowledge
15. ECITB Modern Apprenticeship Schemepreferred
Lowest Qualifications
16. Holds an ONC or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline with sufficient post-qualification experience to be considered as possessing a strong working knowledge
17. ECITB Modern Apprenticeship Scheme preferred
Knowledge, Competencies, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
18. Good knowledge of Design Principles, offshore operations, maintenance layout and plant design, including but not limited to: Fabrication and constructability techniques, Lifting aid design, installation techniques and LOLER lift plans, Application of structural analysis packages, Survey Techniques, Other associated modifications within the Oil and Gas industry.
19. Competent and Knowledgeable of regulatory framework and legislation
20. Compliance with company engineering procedures, industry, international and where appliable client codes and standards.
21. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Autodesk, ReCap
22. Ability to understand client requirements, define a scope of work through Concept/FEED/Detailed Design, and support fabrication and construction
23. Knowledgeable in constructability to support fabrication and construction
24. Foster positive and effective working relationships with Clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
25. Proficient in various applicable design software systems and Microsoft packages
26. Good interpersonal skills - Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
27. Sound time and resource management skills
28. Cognisant of business requirements and needs and adaptable to changing environment and business requirements
29. Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations
30. Able to travel in UK and abroad, as well as offshore
