About the Role:
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people? We are currently looking for a compassionate, reliable, and emotionally intelligent Mental Health Support Worker to join our team, supporting children under the age of 18 with their emotional wellbeing and mental health.
We provide a safe, nurturing environment where every young person feels heard, accepted, and supported. Your understanding, patience, and ability to connect will play a crucial role in helping young people navigate complex emotional challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and group support to children and young people with mental health needs
* Build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
* Promote emotional resilience, confidence, and self-expression
* Work in a trauma-informed, inclusive, and respectful way
* Support young people from diverse backgrounds, including those who identify as LGBTQ+
* Communicate effectively with families, professionals, and other team members
* Follow individual care plans and safeguarding procedures
* Help create a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where all young people feel safe and respected
* Understanding of DOLS
* Work in the comfort of their own home environment
* Encourage and engage with children for daily activities and life skills
About You:
* Previous experience working with children and/or young people in a mental health or support setting is desirable
* Passionate about young people's mental health and wellbeing
* Strong awareness and understanding of the needs of LGBTQ+ youth
* Emotionally resilient, empathetic, and an excellent listener
* Committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion
* Able to work flexibly, including evenings/weekends if required
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
