Transport Planner
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: GBP34,000 GBP38,250 DOE + On-Call Allowance
Hours: Mon Fri 08 00 (40 hours per week) + rotational on-call (evenings & weekends)

TLP are currently recruiting a Transport Planner to join a dynamic and fast-paced transport team. This is a key role responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of fleet operations, ensuring the timely and compliant delivery of goods across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
* Daily operational planning of vehicles, drivers, and jobs.
* Monitor and manage driver hours, rest periods, and ensure full legal compliance.
* Act as the main point of contact for drivers, ensuring clear communication and support.
* Liaise with internal departments, customers, and external suppliers to ensure smooth logistics operations.
* Ensure vehicle compliance and timely defect rectification.
* Respond to delivery issues or delays and notify customers promptly.
* Maintain accurate records of operations, costs, and fleet data.
* Provide flexible support during weekends and out-of-hours periods as part of a rotational on-call schedule.
* Occasionally drive in line with business needs (if appropriately licensed).
Working Hours & On-Call Details:
* Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 08 00.
* Participation in an on-call rota: 1 week in every 4.
* On-call allowance: GBP220 per on-call week.
* During your on-call week, you will also be required to work the Saturday (8 hours) and Sunday (8 hours), which are paid at time and one third.
What We re Looking For:
Experience:
* Proven background in transport or logistics planning, ideally with temperature or time-sensitive goods.
* Experience within a port or maritime environment would be advantageous.
Skills & Knowledge:
* Strong knowledge of transport and driver legislation.
* Excellent IT skills including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Strong commercial awareness and decision-making ability.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* Good people management and team coordination abilities.
Desirable Qualifications:
* CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in National Road Haulage Operations.
* C+E (Class 1) Driving Licence (advantageous, not essential).
