Job Overview
Band 3 Pharmacy Service Assistant. 37.5 hours per week, including late working, weekends and bank holidays on rotation. Full‑time or part‑time options available.
Main Duties
* Dispensing medication on wards and in the dispensary.
* Patient interview, counselling and discharge support.
* Contributing to medicines governance through regular audits.
* Using automation (ROWA robot, automated storage cabinets) and EMIS/Ascribe system for ordering and checking.
* Working with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nursing and medical staff to provide high‑quality, person‑centred care.
Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate medication records and ensure compliance with NHS standards.
* Support development of medicines optimisation initiatives.
* Collaborate with Medicines Management Technicians and Pharmacists to improve service delivery.
* Participate in training and performance reviews for continuous professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy or equivalent.
* Experience in hospital pharmacy, including bedside dispensing and patient communication.
* Customer‑focused service experience and ability to mentor and train staff.
* Experience of supervision and working in a busy environment meeting deadlines.
* Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, internet, automation).
Person Specification
* Organisational, communication and interpersonal skills; self‑motivated and flexible.
* Ability to work independently and within key performance indicators.
* Knowledge of pharmacy systems (EMIS/Ascribe, automation).
