The role’s purpose :
Based in the Legal Function to provide advice on a range of matters across the Society and assist the business in managing risk (whether legal, reputational or compliance) plus supporting the Society’s goal and vision on performance and purpose.
Your role includes advising on a broad spectrum of legal issues but will have a focus on ensuring the Society’s legal risks associated with:
1. Product Related Legal Requirements - mortgage and savings products, lending and savings activities
2. Property Related Legal Requirements - property portfolio
3. Non-Standard Litigation/Disputes
4. Other matters - Provide flexible support across a range of legal matters as they arise in the Society.
These goals are achieved through a mixture of utilising your own expertise, working with other colleagues in the Legal Function and elsewhere in the Society and engagement with external counsel as required.
Your day to day:
You will work as part of the Products team, reporting to the Lead Counsel Products, which has overall responsibility for Products.
You will respond to queries from stakeholders and undertake the engagement of external legal or non-legal experts as required.
You will collaborate closely with other teams in the Legal Function and wider Society.
You will ensure that the Society remains compliant with legal and regulatory requirements in your area and acts in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
You will always ensure that an appropriate level of consistent and accurate advice and support is delivered to stakeholders in a highly compliant, professional, and timely manner and consider the impact of your advice and the actions of the business on the risk appetite of the Society (whether legal, reputational or compliance related)
You will be developing professional skills, knowledge and experience in your specialist area but also have good broad legal knowledge.

Essential Requirements:
5. Have a number or years legally qualified with strong experience and deep knowledge of the elements required for this role: Product Related Legal Requirements Property Related Legal Requirements Standard Litigation/Disputes
6. Broad multi-disciplinary experience and experience working in a complex and busy workplace.
7. Stakeholder management
8. You have strong drafting, research, negotiation, analytical and influencing skills
9. Strong interest in product related matters
Desirable:
10. You will ideally have financial services experience and/or experience of working in a regulated environment.
Hours : 35 - Mon to Friday + hybrid working - 1 day a week in the Coventry Office
