The Fellows House Cambridge is one of the city's most distinctive hotels — a Curio Collection by Hilton property that blends academic heritage with modern hospitality. We are looking for an exceptional Financial Controller to join our Executive Committee and take full ownership of the hotel's financial performance.
This is a senior leadership role for a technically strong, commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a dynamic hospitality environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Financial Controller is the financial conscience of the property. You will lead all aspects of financial reporting, planning, and control — translating operational performance into clear commercial insight that drives better decisions across every department.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Owning the full month-end and year-end close, delivering the Monthly Financial Review pack by business day 8
* Leading the annual budget process and maintaining 13-week rolling cash flow forecasts
* Designing and monitoring robust internal controls across all financial cycles
* Overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and the General Ledger
* Producing weekly flash reporting on labour costs, GOP tracker, and key operational KPIs
* Partnering with Revenue Management and Sales to analyse room revenue, channel mix, and rate yield
* Acting as primary contact for internal and external auditors
* Building financial literacy across departmental managers through monthly P&L reviews
* Leading, developing, and appraising a high-performing finance team
About You
We are looking for a candidate who brings:
* Full professional accounting qualification — ACCA, CIMA, or ACA/ICAEW
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance manager, ideally within hospitality or a similarly complex operational environment
* Strong command of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
* Familiarity with USALI guidelines and hospitality-specific KPIs (RevPAR, GOP PAR, CPOR)
* The credibility and communication skills to operate confidently at Executive Committee level
* A hands-on leadership style with a track record of developing finance teams
* Right to work in the UK
What We Offer
* A senior leadership position within a prestigious Curio Collection by Hilton property
* A seat on the Executive Committee, with genuine influence over hotel strategy
* The scope to shape and develop the finance function around your strengths
* A vibrant Cambridge environment with a strong sense of place and culture
* Competitive salary and Hilton team member benefits
