Job Title: Senior Planning Manager

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading land investment and promotion business as they look to appoint an experienced Senior Planning Manager to their team in Preston Brook. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute planning professional to contribute to high-profile, complex developments across the UK.
The Role
As a Senior Planning Manager, you will take a key role in managing planning projects from initial feasibility through Local Plan promotion, planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and appeals. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders-including developers, landowners, investors, and multidisciplinary consultant teams-to secure commercially sound and effective planning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leading the preparation of planning strategies, appraisals, and supporting documents
2. Analysing site histories and interpreting local and national planning policy
3. Producing clear and compelling planning statements for development proposals
4. Overseeing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
5. Working collaboratively with internal teams and external consultants
6. Monitoring and managing planning applications through to determination
About You:
7. Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
8. Chartered Member of the RTPI
9. At least 5 years’ experience in planning, ideally within consultancy, a housebuilder, a promoter, or local authority
10. Strong understanding of planning policy and the UK planning system
11. Excellent communication and report-writing skills
12. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
13. Commercially minded with the confidence to manage complex planning matters
