We are looking to recruit aMaterial Planning Team Leader on a permanent basis to join our Supply Chain team based at our site, National Distribution Centre in the North East
The Role
A skilled and dynamic Material Planning Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day activities of our material planning department. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for ensuring the timely procurement and availability of materials to meet customer requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to manage inventory levels, plan material requirements, and ensure the efficient flow of materials throughout the supply chain.
Key Tasks
* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of material planners to achieve departmental objectives. Provide training, guidance, and support to ensure optimal team performance.
* Material Planning: Oversee the material planning process, including managing inventory levels, coordinating material requirements, and ensuring the timely availability of materials to support customer schedules.
* Demand Forecasting: Collaborate with supplier and sales teams to understand demand forecasts, ensuring material availability aligns with supplier needs and customer demands.
* Supplier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers/vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
* Inventory Management: Monitor and analyse inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock. Work with the team to implement inventory optimisation strategies.
* Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement improvements in material planning processes, systems, and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
* Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present reports on material usage, inventory levels, and supplier performance. Provide insights and recommendations to UK & I Supply Chain Manager based on data analysis.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the operations, procurement, and Sales teams to ensure alignment of material planning with overall business objectives
The Candidate
We are seeking a service-driven individual with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills, both verbal and written. While experience in sales, expediting, logistics, or supply chain management, as well as knowledge of fastenings and procurement, would be advantageous, they are not essential as full training will be provided. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is required, and experience with Dynamic 365 (D365) would be beneficial, though training will also be given.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines. Strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise multiple tasks, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential. Building and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external customers is a key part of this role.
