Learning Support Assistant Location: Peterlee Working hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm (Monday to Friday) Contract type: Long term, immediate start, full time Leader Education are seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive SEND school that provides high-quality education and support for children and young people aged 2–19. Working as part of a dedicated and supportive team, you will help create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment. You will support pupils with additional needs to build confidence, develop independence and make meaningful progress both academically and socially. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a SEND or school setting, and a good understanding of inclusive education and how to support pupils with additional needs. They will demonstrate excellent communication skills, alongside patience, empathy and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people is essential. Experience supporting pupils with autism and/or complex needs, including the use of alternative communication strategies, would be advantageous, and relevant training such as safeguarding, first aid or behaviour support would also be desirable.
