A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Manager or Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our GNFR Procurement Team, with specific responsibility for shopfitting cost control across our large, fast‑moving retail estate.
Our team is responsible for sourcing approximately £180m of goods and services across shops, Head Office, and Manufacturing & Logistics, spanning a wide range of categories including capital projects and shopfitting.
This is a unique role ideal for someone from a construction, retail fit‑out or shopfitting background who wants to apply their technical QS/estimating expertise in a stable, client‑side environment.

About the role
17. This is a full-time role

19. The base location for this role is Greggs House, Newcastle Upon Tyne although there will be some travel required as part of the role to visit suppliers and shops.
What you'll do
20. Review Principal Contractor individual project cost submissions for each shopfit/refit including validation of measurements, specifications, project duration, equipment inclusion and quantities, and nominated subcontractor/supplier quotes to ensure accuracy and correctness
21. Provide new shop estimates to the property team
22. Challenge the supplier/Principal contractor using evidence based on the above to drive down the costs and manage within budget
23. Maintain cost data for approved costs
24. Update Standard Schedule of Rates to mirror design format
25. Ensure certainty of supply, mitigation of risks, best quality and value
26. Driving value for money ensuring that key research, monitoring and evaluation is completed to ensure value is maintained
27. Managing and resolving day to day issues with suppliers in a timely and effective manner
28. Delivering Procurement Support for Key Strategic Company Projects
29. Support and contribute to our Responsible Sourcing processes and goals ensuring we work within the ISO20400 framework
30. Reviewing processes and standards to maintain customer focus and ensuring best practice is achieved
31. Developing and fostering good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
About you
You will fit right into this role if you:
32. Have strong negotiation experience and commercial acumen
33. Bring experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator on high‑value construction, shopfitting, or retail fit‑out projects
34. Are confident reviewing drawings,specificationsand take‑offs tovalidatecost accuracy
35. Are highly numerate with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
36. Havea track recordof delivering value and continuous improvement
37. Are a self‑starter who can plan and prioritise effectively
38. Communicate clearly and professionally with a range of stakeholders
39. Are assertive,tenaciousand diplomatic when managing suppliers
40. Possess strong interpersonal and influencing skills
41. Canidentifykey cost drivers and align procurement activity accordingly
42. Work well as part of a team and enjoy contributing to shared goals
43. Have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (SAP/Ariba desirable)
44. Have experience with JCT contracts (beneficial, not essential)
