Midlands - Placement Map
Placement counsellors provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organization that adopts the BACP ethical framework, counsellors are dedicated to improving mental health and well-being.
* Place2Be offers high support through supervision, tailored training workshops, and a clinical placement program.
* We provide a comprehensive induction and daily clinical supervision.
* You need to be available for at least one day per week to work therapeutically with up to 3 children in one-to-one counselling.
* Placements are term-time only for one academic year, with opportunities for extension.
* You can attend up to six optional workshops recognized for CPD.
* Sessions with children count as clinical hours towards professional accreditation, recognized by BACP and UKCP.
* Many of our clinical staff started as placement counsellors.
* Positions are available in primary and secondary schools nationwide.
Counting your hours
All clinical hours can be used towards accreditation with bodies like BACP and UKCP. Check with your course tutor if child hours are accepted for your course. If not, you can apply as a second placement to gain experience working with children.
Diversity and Inclusion
We are committed to equal opportunities and encourage applications from all backgrounds, especially from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities. We also seek male candidates to reflect community diversity. Successful applicants will undergo an Enhanced DBS/PVG check. Please apply only for one location, which can be changed later.
About You
You will be a qualified or studying towards a qualification in counselling, therapy, or psychology at the following levels:
* Diploma in Counselling (Level 4 or above), or a first-year full academic year Certificate Course, or equivalent.
* Degree, MSc, or MA in Counselling, Psychotherapy, or related fields; first-year applicants should have relevant experience with children.
