Position Overview
This role supports portfolio optimization, analysis, reporting and operations for CLOs. This is a highly visible position and requires someone with strong CLO knowledge, who understands transaction models, deal indentures and has working knowledge of CLO mechanics/Compliance tests, and can communicate effectively with senior managers, banks and trustees. This position will be responsible for supporting the portfolio manager with trading plans (including hypothetical trade testing), processing and monitoring the reconciliation of CLO portfolio positions, and working with the trustees to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The monthly reconciliation process will involve cash flow projection, timely and accurate cash and holdings transaction comparisons, and the resolution of exceptions with the trustees.
Primary Responsibilities
* Work proactively with portfolio managers for CLO portfolio optimization including balancing par build, WARF, WAL, diversity score, and CCC constraints while preserving structural cushions
* Run hypothetical trade analysis, special projects, cash flow projections and ad hoc requests.
* Monitor portfolio-level transactions and assess their impact on CLO performance, including par build, portfolio quality, and overall structural health.
* Manage hypothetical trade testing process for proposed allocations and provide confirmation or recommendation with an optimized allocation based on the CLOs current results and indentures’ guidance.
* Maintain regular interaction with trustees, service providers and stakeholders to facilitate trades, payments, and day-to-day transaction processes.
* Responsible for the review and approval of quarterly Trustee Waterfalls.
* Responsible for Calculation of coverage and collateral quality tests, portfolio concentration limitations and other tests as specified by the indentures.
* Reconcile principal and interest received from portfolio assets to ensure accurate accounting for monthly reporting and waterfall distributions.
* Maintain and update deal and loan data within Valitana, ensuring accurate representation of collateral, liabilities, and structural features.
* Utilize CLO system to model CLO cash flows, run waterfall calculations, and analyze the impact of portfolio activity on tranche performance.
* Leverage CLO system reporting outputs to support portfolio monitoring, internal reporting and compliance reconciliations.
* Oversee day-to-day management of CLO warehouse vehicles throughout the ramp, including asset onboarding, borrowing base monitoring, and lender reporting.
* Maintaining conceptual portfolios to model for new CLOs warehouse along with cash flow and fee projection.
* Support the portfolio managers for other CLO/loan related projects such as the CLO senior tranche investing business and other loan business funds.
* Work with internal Operation and Risk teams to ensure that trade data and cash flows are accurately recorded in internal systems.
* Support projects and research for portfolio managers, senior managers, and internal partners.
* Develop and review Daily, weekly, and monthly risk reports indicating concentration, diversity, and rating changes along with other attributes impacts in different portfolios.
* Notify internal stakeholders of outstanding corporate actions and process consent forms on behalf of lenders.
* Firm representation by attending CLO industry conferences.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Strong system skills with a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Rigorous attention to detail; excellent time management and organizational skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Excellent research skills, resourcefulness, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or similar field.
* At least 5+ years of CLO industry experience in a related role.
* Strong understanding of bank debt and fixed income securities.
* Knowledge of CLO documentation (i.e. indentures) is required.
* Familiarity with CLO industry software, including Valitana, Intex, and comparable cash flow modelling and analytics platforms would be desirable.
