Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: NICSSA Assist with the preparation and maintenance of grass playing surfaces including synthetic surfaces and outfields to ensure that they are of first-class standard. Operate and maintaining ground equipment in accordance with standard operating and safety procedures. Take direction from the Head Groundsman and fulfil any reasonable request or duties required by him such as general maintenance and repair of sports equipment, collecting, removing and disposal of rubbish, ensuring you comply with all health, safety and hygiene policies and procedures especially NEBOSH and managing & liaison with users on a regular basis regarding car park management and pitch management.
Responsibilities
* Care of turf, including regular mowing, watering and soil maintenance along with the use of appropriate pesticides and fertilisers where appropriate.
* Maintenance of synthetic surfaces and general care and maintenance of areas around sporting fields, to include sports grounds buildings.
* Regular general maintenance of ground machinery i.e. mowers, tractors etc.
* Ground improvement and enhancement activities such as general landscaping, watering and drainage.
* Regular maintenance and repair of sports equipment, i.e. posts, fences etc.
* Removal and disposal of rubbish as required.
* Upkeep and general maintenance of machinery.
* Health & Safety at work and risk assessments of grounds and equipment.

* Well developed communication skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely as well as the ability to handle long and complex documents.
* Interpersonal, relationship-building and negotiation skills.
* Spatial awareness and the ability to work with diagrams.
* Flexibility and the ability to work on more than one task at a time.
* Ability to work under pressure and against agreed timescales.
* The ability to prioritise, plan, organise and demonstrate attention to detail.
