About the Role
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with autism? A local secondary school in Dorchester is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Worker to join their team.
Responsibilities
* Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with autism, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
* Create a nurturing environment where students feel safe and valued, promoting social and emotional development.
* Work closely with teachers and staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
* Support communication between students, teachers, and parents/guardians, ensuring all are informed and involved.
* Encourage students to develop independence and life skills, boosting their confidence and resilience.
* Assess and track student progress, providing feedback and contributing to reports and reviews.
* Collaborate with staff to create a cohesive learning environment that meets diverse needs.
Requirements
* Experience or training supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs.
* Commitment to inclusivity and equality in education.
