Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) – Southampton Area

We are currently recruiting confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a range of welcoming primary schools in Southampton and the surrounding areas. This flexible opportunity is ideal for skilled practitioners who enjoy variety, value work–life balance and are passionate about making a meaningful impact on pupils’ learning.
What We’re Looking For:
* HLTA status or substantial experience working at HLTA level in a primary school.
* Experience across EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2.
* Confidence delivering pre-planned lessons and covering classes during PPA or short-term absence.
* Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
* Ability to support pupils one-to-one and in small groups to accelerate progress.
* A calm, adaptable, and professional approach.
* A strong understanding of safeguarding and school policies.
Your Role in the Classroom:
* Delivering lessons in the teacher’s absence, following set plans.
* Supporting learning across the curriculum to ensure continuity and progress.
* Working closely with class teachers to support planning and assessment.
* Providing targeted interventions for individuals or small groups.
* Maintaining a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment.
* Upholding safeguarding procedures and school expectations always.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
