SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Salary: £101.10 per day
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner by agreement)
Hours: 25 Hours per Week (Periods 1–5)
Contract: Full Time, Temporary, Term Time Only
Are you a resilient, compassionate and proactive individual looking for a rewarding role supporting young people with additional needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Stevenage and become part of a highly supportive inclusion team.
This SEN Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support, including those with EHCPs, SEMH needs, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), ADHD and learning difficulties. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will help students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide in-class support to students with special educational needs across a range of subjects.
• Deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning strategies.
• Support emotional regulation, social development and positive engagement.
• Assist with the implementation and monitoring of EHCP targets and support plans.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and external professionals.
• Promote independence, resilience and positive behaviour.
• Build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
Requirements
• Experience working with young people, ideally within education, SEN, youth work, care or support settings.
• Ability to remain calm, professional and resilient when working with challenging students.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Reliable, adaptable and proactive approach to supporting learners.
• Genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people succeed.

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
