My Client is recruiting for a Project Engineer in the Water Sector.
Location
Midlands/Yorkshire/Northwest areas with Hybrid and site working.
Role Overview
Working within a team to deliver projects through the design/build/commissioning phases, assisting Project and Site Managers with programme and budget. The role involves a mixture of site, office, and home working. Responsibilities include ensuring Health and Safety compliance during project activities on site, and managing site M&E activities in line with the programme.
Project Focus
Delivery of MEICA projects within the Water Treatment Industry, primarily with a mechanical/hydraulic background, and an understanding of electrical and ICA elements. Projects involve internal and external clients across the UK, covering major water utility companies, including both clean water and sewage treatment, across non-infra and interfacing infra projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist in managing engineering disciplines and advise the Project Manager on project progress. Review method statements and risk assessments, and communicate technical updates to the team.
2. Promote best practices, identify training needs, and ensure materials are specified and ordered correctly. Maintain an up-to-date material schedule.
3. Provide site support to ensure timely decision-making and issue resolution, with regular site visits.
4. Support site operational activities, including procurement, H&S documentation, M&E installation supervision, and commissioning.
5. Ensure HSQE compliance, complete safety inspections, and assist in preparing safety, quality, environmental, and construction plans.
6. Participate in safety meetings, ensure compliance with procedures and legislation, and identify training needs.
7. Produce project documentation such as procurement schedules, RAMS, SWPs, and contribute to programme and forecasting.
8. Coordinate H&S inspections with clients and subcontractors, and manage site activities to maintain programme while balancing operational needs.
9. Work with project teams to ensure activities align with QA/ITP and project timelines.
Candidate Requirements
1. Proven MEICA project experience, with knowledge of control systems, valves, instrumentation, and ancillary equipment typical of water treatment sites.
2. Understanding of treatment processes, water movement, and chemical dosing.
3. Hydraulic knowledge of water distribution, boosted systems, and pumped dosing systems.
4. Proficiency with MS Project, Word, and Excel; capable of creating detailed programmes and cost analyses.
5. Flexibility to stay and work away as required.
6. Certifications: EUSR Water Hygiene, CSCS Managers Card, SMSTS or equivalent (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely).
